Tony Green

I had totally forgotten all about our guest speaker that we had visit us in college last week. Tony Green was a previous student at Mid Cheshire College who had gone on to study at Saint Martins in London. Tony had also worked for the designer Sonia Rykiel as a Womenswear designer, therefore he had come to speak about his experience in the working world of Fashion.

Tony Green spoke all about his time at Saint Martins and what he did for his graduate collections, he also showed us a few of his illustrations he had done for both university and also Sonia Rykiel. I found Tony's talk so interesting as it really gave me an insight into what it would be like going to uni and studying in something I really enjoy.

I had also signed up for a 1 to 1 with Tony, I was a bit unsure on what to show Tony but after a while i had decided to show him my current sketchbook which included all my design developments and practice illustrations. When it came to the 1 to 1 I basically just talked and talked all about my work and showing him my ideas for my final garment in the end of year fashion show. During the talk Tony had made a list of shows and designers I could research which related to my style of work and ideas for my garment. (Which I have researched into and will give you my thoughts on them in my next post.)

Once I had come away from the 1 to 1, I was over the moon and so happy I had decided to take part in it, Tony was such a great help to me and gave me some really good ideas on how I could achieve my own illustration board for my final garment and also some good designers I could research into for inspiration.
Overall I am really grateful of Tony and the tutors at college for organising his visit as I feel it has really helped me with my work at college.
