MANUFACTURING OUTFIT 3 - HIGH NECK DRESS

- So for outfit 3 (high neck dress) I started of manufacturing the outfit in a grey thin polyester.

PROBLEM the pleat on the shoulder didnt sit right in the choose of fabric as it was to lightweight!

 PROBLEM SLIGHTLY FIXED
To try and fix the problem I stitched a retainer row along the inside of the pleats, this made them sit more flat but I still wasn't completely satisfied. However I still went ahead to see if attaching the sleeve would make a difference.

CHANGE OF PLAN - GREY POLYESTER FABRIC

After attaching the sleeves, I decided I didn't like the garment in that fabric at all! Thankfully I had bought a grey thick suede type of fabric from the London trip and there was enough fabric! So I then decided to remake the dress in the new fabric to see if the shoulder pleats and the whole dress sat better.

-this time to help improve the shoulder pleats, I decided to add a lightweight interfacing to the shoulders on the front and back.

IT WORKED- The extra interfacing and the thicker fabric made the pleats sit more comfortably onto the shoulders.

-  CHANGE OF PLAN - I also decided to add a box pleat onto the sleeves instead of a normal pleat.

- WHAT WAS LEFT?  After sewing all the garment together the only thing left was to attach the 22inch zip down the off centre seam.
