These design boards were created to show my final collection. inspiration was taken from many different areas of my research, from looking at the human body to the growth/decay of a flower and butterfly. For example the use of the gathered CB seam and side pleats was taken from the inspiration of the human ribcage, showing the structure of each rib through a draped side pleat. I also took inspiration from the structure of a humans collar bone for the pleated shoulders in 'High neck dress.' Inspiration from the shape/structure of a cocoon of a butterfly and the bud of a flower was incorporated into the curved structure of the coat and also the round shoulders in the jumpsuit. The collection I have designed aims at the Ready-To-Wear target market, i feel my collection fits into the market as i have used finishes and techniques that are frequently used in this market, for example hand finishes, linings, facings, and manufactured with good quality fabrics.
