Christmas Time
My favourite christmas advert this year has to be the amazing John Lewis advert, I loved their advert last year with the little boy and I love this years advert with the snow men! It shows true love between a snowman and a snow women. It clearly shows the use of the psychology of colour in this advert as the snow woman is wearing red accessories and the psychology of red stands for love and warmth and the whole meaning of the christmas advert is love and warmth shared between two snowmens.

Creation of the Shorts
I finally decided to sort through old materials and try and find the nearest colours to match the colours on the shorts in the original painting. I would then try and attempt to create the shorts from scratch with scrap material.
I started of with cutting and tracing round a size 12 block and mark the darts, I then moved onto sewing the darts and seams together leaving gaps at the top so the model would be able to squeeze into them and also enough room to pin them at the top when at the photoshoot.

'Seated woman with bent knee'
I researched further into Egon Schiele's painting 'Seated woman with bent knee' painted in 1917, I was unsuccessful in my research as I was unable to find any background information on the paining, however I was able to find out that a recreation of the historical painting would be worth around £200 - £300, this shows to me that the orginal paining by Schiele would be worth a lot more than a recreation of his 'Seated woman with bent knee."
When I first found the image I thought about who he target audience would be, while I was researching into the painting I was also unsuccessful in finding the target audience of the original paining, this may be due to the painting being created in 1917, however I thought I would still give it ago and try and aim my recreating of the paining at the same target audience. The target audience I have tried to aim my recreation of the painting at is a more older generation due to the painting being a much older painting and not as modern and young as the younger generations art world is today.

Final decision
I final decided to choose the historical painting by Schiele 'Seated woman with bent knee' this became my decision as I found the pose of the woman interesting as the shaping of the head and knee stood out to me and also the style of clothes and garments. I extremely found the fading of the shoe interesting as I wanted see how the photographers I was paired up with would react and how they would tackle the photoshopping of the faded shoe.
I would first start by creating the outfit in the painting, my plan was to either go to a charity shop on one of my study days to see if there was a similar pair of trousers or shorts for a cheap price that I could cut up. My thoughts for the black tights and shoes were to cut the top and bottom off a pair of tights and style with the shorts, for the faded shoes I suggested to the photographers either a plain white sock or a trainer shoe, they thought the best option would be the sock as it would be easier to edit in photoshop. For the final part of the outfit I would go out or look around my home for a bottle green vest that was a big size so it could hang the same way on the model as it has done in the original painting.

Our Inspiration
This is the match.com advert where we gathered our inspiration from for the location for the vintage photo shoot.
Behind the scene
As part of one of the tasks on our new brief, we were paired up with another student and given a word to be the starting point of our own magazine story, our word was 'vintage' and we were also given the magazine 'TANK' to aim our magazine story at, therefore we had to consider 'TANK's target audience and study what the magazine was about.
We considered hair styles, make-up, outfits and location. Here in this photo is our final decision on the hair, make-up, outfit and location. We choose the location of a train station as we got our inspiration from the match.com advert, which was located at a train station with a young lady on one platform and young gentlemen on the other side.

Psychology of colour
I've recently been researching into the psychology of colour and came across an example of the psychology of colour being used.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogetBqMgau0 . The Coca Cola Christmas advert has been around for years and links to the use of psychology of colour as their famous colour is red and red is used for Christmas and Father Christmas, this has been used in The Coca Cola advert

François Berthoud 1994 illustration
This is my recreation of François Berthoud 'Wire Dummy' 1994. To create this illustration I used pastels for the garment and charcoal for the wire cage. Not everything in this illustration is in proportion but the use of the media has worked well.

Presentation
At last minute I decided to change my illustrator for my presentation as I came across the Fashion Illustrator Tanya Ling. When I gave out my presentation I received negative and positive feed back from my peers, the positive feed back was that I projected my voice well and came across loud and clear, another positive that I received was that my knowledge on my chosen illustrator was researched well and I had a clear understanding of what work she had done and what medias she had used to create her illustrations. From my presentation I also received negative feedback and where I could of improved for example one of my weaknesses was that on my power point presentation there wasn't enough visual images to look at for my audience, also another weakness was that at the start of my presentation i showed a lack of confidence in me but as I progressed through I became more confident and clearer on what I was talking about. I have learnt a lot from my research into the illustrator Tanya Ling as I have found new medias I can experiment with such as make-up which I came across Ling used for an advert in the magazine Harper Bazaar, this has opened my eyes up to new medias I can use for my own current project and future reference.

For this weeks unit we have to deliver a 5 minute presentation on a chosen illustrator/artist. I have chosen the fashion illustrator Kareem Iliya he has mainly worked for different issues of vogue magazine such as British Vogue and Italian Vogue and his work has also been seen in The Newyorker and W magazine.

Nearly done my first full month studying fashion at college. I've been given my first brief and told what I need to do for it, I was also given my first decade which was 1910 to 1919 I researched into this decade and found out about the main events, art movements and famous designers. Paul Poiret was one of the designers I came across who was most famous for the invention of the 'hobble' skirt. I also came across many different things in the 1910s such as the art movement 'cubism' and the two co founders of that art movement. All this research was done in the first 2 - 3 weeks at college.
